Brunch: Our November Selections

The Butcher’s Daughter

Swap Meat for Brunch

One may think that with a name like The Butcher’s Daughter, this restaurant is serving up slabs of meat, fried chicken wings, and racks of ribs. Well, it’s quite the opposite. At The Butcher’s Daughter, they treat fruits and vegetables as a butcher would treat meat. You’ll find fresh produce that is chopped, filleted, and carved into wholesome, mouthwatering vegetarian and vegan dishes like beet “tartare,” jumbo lump “crab” cakes, and spaghetti squash carbonara. The dishes are fresh, hearty, healthy, and won’t have you wondering where the meat is. The freshness doesn’t stop with their dishes—they also serve cold-pressed cocktails like the 24-Carrot, made with Contratto Bianco, pressed carrot, and pressed orange and the refreshing Rosemary’s Cup made with Contratto bitters, mint, rosemary, cucumber, and ginger. From morning to night, The Butcher’s Daughter has breakfast, lunch, and dinner that will keep you satisfied and your waistline svelte. Start your day with one of their espresso drinks, wellness lattes or teas, cold-pressed juices, or raw smoothies along with bakery items and breakfast bowls and plates. With a commitment to buying produce from local farms, their fruits and vegetables taste better, support our community’s sustainability, and keep you coming back for more with fresh, beneficial, and delicious meals.

Slut Sharing

Changing the egg game since 2011, Eggslut is a chef-driven food concept that was inspired by a true love for eggs. The menu is a balance of classic comfort fare and unique eats that any adventurous foodie would love. The only thing items have in common is that they all contain cage-free eggs. No longer just a breakfast staple, Eggslut is making eggs an all day, every day, go-to meal. Judging by the long lines, obviously they’re getting something egg-sactly right. People love the Fairfax sandwich made with soft scrambled eggs, chives, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, and Sriracha mayo on a brioche bun, and the cheekily titled Slut, a coddled egg on a bed of potato purée, poached in a glass jar and served with a baguette. Needless to say, if you love eggs, this is your spot.

Brunch at Republique

Republican Party

A prominent L.A. brunch and dinner restaurant, République is not only known for its freshly baked pastries, pasta, and baguettes, but also its interior design. With plaid green-and-white flooring, a large skylight, and rustic brick walls, this quaint eatery has a homey French country style and is definitely worth a try. The vibe is bright and lively, with weekend lines going out the door. If you’re looking for an on-the-go brunch, this is the place. (Test out dinner if you want a sit-down, fancier experience.) Although there is plenty of seating available for brunch, République gets packed, and for good reason. Standouts are the freshly baked bread, excellent coffee, and  the kimchi fried rice with a poached egg. Weekends are a little bit crazy, but the fine fare and ambience make it worthwhile. République is a special spot you don’t want to miss.

Brunch at the French Market

French Connection

The French Market Café is a charming al fresco bistro serving Venice denizens since 1993. Originally from the French Riviera, proprietress extraordinaire Agnes Martinez will welcome you with homemade, authentic traditional food of Provence (and free parking). The shaded patio is usually packed with laid-back locals tucking into classic Basque chicken, perfectly simple omelettes, and hardy boeuf bourguignon. Go inside to the jam-packed market and check out the imported comestibles and wine selection before you bid adieu.
